Ever have those days when you’re just craving carbs and nothing else will suffice? One of my favorite places that always hits the spot is Nizza Ristorante located in Hell’s Kitchen in New York City. Nizza has a separate gluten free menu for brunch and dinner that features a ton of options like gluten free pasta, socca (similar to pizza crust that’s made from chickpeas), steak and salmon along with some delicious sides.
If you’re going for dinner, I highly recommend making a reservation. The aroma of roasting tomatoes and baking bread combined with the lively atmosphere of Nizza is like a beacon – attracting both tourists and natives of Hell’s Kitchen.
Gluten Free Meal
Gluten Free Bread (complimentary)
with ricotta, extra virgin olive oil, salt & pepper
Nizza’s gluten free bread is some of the better bread I’ve had at a restaurant. It’s an herbed bread that’s fluffy and flavorful but watch out because you can easily fill up on this alone.
Pasta Pesto $16.50
fettuccine with a touch of cream, crescenza cheese & pesto
This is my go-to dish at Nizza. Typically, I’m not a huge pesto fan (I’m partial to my own), but Nizza’s creamy pesto is absolutely delicious and not heavy at all, a GF Steph favorite. I really appreciate how Nizza doesn’t skimp on its portions either. I mean, if I’m going to eat pasta I might as well go all out. An added bonus, you can easily have enough left over for a second meal or midnight snack.
Verdict: Not only does Nizza offer an extensive gluten free Italian menu, but the staff is very knowledgeable and accommodating. I have eaten at Nizza both for lunch and dinner and have always left feeling very satisfied. It’s reasonably priced, which I really appreciate, and once you’re done with dinner you can step outside and enjoy the vibrant, fun nightlife of Hell’s Kitchen.
Till we eat again…
